Shaftesbury Youth Club’s Flagship Project

The Foundation awarded a grant towards the Shaftesbury Youth Club’s Project, to install a 3G All Weather Sports Pitch and extend/refurbish the Pavilion and Community Hub. Our Trustees visited the Shaftes to see the fantastic transformation and meet the amazing staff & volunteers who work so hard providing such a vital community space.

Shaftesbury Youth Club has been providing services to local young people and their families for over 130 years. It is the second oldest Youth Club in England, and their mission is to inspire young people to achieve their potential.

It is a purpose-built youth and community centre, open 7 days a week, providing community and education programmes based around the following themes: sports participation, youth and community engagement, social education, health and well-being, including emotional well-being. The nature of their work is varied, but more importantly it is targeted at working with children, young people, and families of Wirral. SYC deliver numerous projects and a variety of diverse activities using the power of football, sport and engagement to reach a multitude of vulnerable groups.
