Inspired Reading Programme

End of Year Celebrations 2023

After another incredible year of supporting local primary schools, our Inspired Reading Programme came to an end for this academic year. To celebrate the children’s hard work and fabulous achievements, Celebration Events were held at each primary school who have taken part in the programme.

The children were very proud of the special mention that they were given by their Reading Mentor and so excited to be presented with a book and certificate that they couldn’t wait to start reading!

The response to the Children’s Book Appeal 2023 has yet again been incredible. From the kind and generous donations from our Reading Mentors, their friends & family and from the wider community we have been overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity. It meant that we able to give a book to the children that we have worked with on programme, along with the rest of the children in class too.

Special thanks go to staff at Wallasey Van Hire, Shelter Merseyside, Rainbows, Brownies & Guides from Wallasey Division Girlguiding and 2nd Great Sutton Guides, 6th Whitby Brownies and Gav at Support Force.

The biggest ‘thank you’ goes to our amazing Reading Mentors for all their incredible support and dedication to the children in their groups. We are so lucky to have such inspirational people who have given their time to make a difference to the children that they have supported throughout the year.

It has been wonderful to hear the positive feedback visiting our schools. All have commented that they have noticed an improvement in the children’s reading, self-esteem, confidence and communication skills.

“We really appreciate the support. It is just such special and valuable time for the children, we are very grateful”.  Jocasta Keast, Y2 Teacher, Liscard Primary

“The Reading Celebration yesterday was wonderful. A perfect way to round off all the hard work of the year. It was so nice to hear the ladies and yourself speaking so personally to each child and the looks on their faces as they were listening to what was being said. You could tell that they have some lovely conversations! Thank you, also, for the super books that you brought for all the children”. Malka Billing, Y2 Teacher, Woodlands Primary

“We would absolutely love to be involved again next year if that is possible. Thank you and your lovely Mentors so very much again for all the time and hard work they have put into supporting our children.

They’ve been a Godsend!  It is very much appreciated”. Charlotte Fenwick, Y2 Teacher, Christ Church Primary

If you would like more info about becoming a Reading Mentor, we would love to hear from you.
