Inspired Reading Programme

End of YearCelebration Events

Our Inspired Reading Programme came to an end at the beginning of July and to acknowledge the children’s hard work and wonderful achievements, we held our Celebration Events at each of our 10 primary schools who have participated in the programme.

The children were very proud of the special mention that they were given by each of their mentors and so excited to be presented with a book and certificate.

The response to the children’s book appeal has been incredible. From the kind and generous donations from our Reading Mentors, their friends & family and from the wider community we smashed our target! Not only were we able to give a book to the children that we have worked with on programme, but the rest of the children in class too.

Special thanks go to staff at Wallasey Van Hire, Wallasey Division Rainbows/Brownies & Guides and 2nd Great Sutton Guides & 6th Whitby Brownies as well as John Earp.

Of course, there wouldn’t be a programme without the amazing help and support from our incredible Reading Mentors…..a very BIG thank you to you all.

It has been wonderful to hear the positive feedback from our schools over the last couple of weeks when we have visited. All commented that they have noticed an improvement in the children’s reading, with some teachers saying the children’s reading ability has advanced a year or 2. They have also noticed their self-esteem, confidence and communication skills have improved significantly.

If you would like more info about becoming a volunteer, we would love to hear from you.
