Young Chamber Cadets from Woodlands Primary School have Merseytravel as their ‘adopted’ business and were given the challenge of creating a colourful design for a new Mersey Ferry as well as a new pop up cafe idea based at the Woodside Ferry Terminal. The Year 5 children spent the day at school coming up with enterprising ideas for their pop up cafe, which varied from selling Mexican food, a chicken food outlet and “Seabucks” Cafe! The children came up with some amazing eye-catching designs for their new ferry which would certainly outshine Sir Peter Blake’s stunning Dazzle Ferry. Each team then presented their design ideas to a judging panel.
The highlight after their challenge was a special VIP Tour with Merseytravel which included a behind the scenes tour of Queen’s Square bus control room and Merseyrail followed by a trip underground to tour the Queensway Tunnel. Even though it rained throughout the day, the weather certainly did not dampen the children’s enjoyment of a fantastic day.
