Wednesday 19th June 2019 saw The Johnson Foundation host the fifth Great Wirral Conversation in partnership with Young Chamber and Age UK Wirral. Fifteen Year 9 pupils from West Kirby Grammar School were delighted to be invited to take part. The intergenerational topic of conversation was Friendship & Self-Esteem. Back at school the students wrote an account of their visit.
When we went to the Great Wirral Conversation, we learnt a lot about how many different perspectives there are on one topic. We discussed subjects such as friendship and self-esteem. We agreed with some of the statements as well as having different opinions leading to deeper conversation. The Ladies offered a lot of insight and experience about the world we live in. They also offered really good advice for us to use in the future. It was refreshing to have a conversation with people of a different age as us because it was interesting to see how age affected an opinion. We loved talking to the ladies and would love to do it again.
Big thanks to Age UK Wirral & West Kirby Grammar School for making the Conversation such good fun for everyone that took part.
