About Our Foundation

The Johnson Foundation was started by Wirral businessman and philanthropist Peter Johnson in 1987. One of Merseyside’s best-known businessmen, he founded Park Group Plc, the Christmas hamper and financial product firm in 1966 and was the owner of both Everton and Tranmere Rovers football clubs. Mr Johnson, with little formal education, grew the hamper business into a £400 million turnover business during his fifty year tenure.

Help and Support

The Foundation has a team available to charities to help and support their current fundraising.

Latest

The Foundation looks at all people as individuals and has the luxury of being able to support a client for as long as it takes. The team runs regular ‘building block’ programmes which offer the diagnostic prior to tailoring the support to each person.

Without the support of The Johnson Foundation’s ‘match-funding’, we would not be able to fly sixteen Birkenhead children to China to visit our sister school.  It was a ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity’* for our children to experience Chinese schooling, home life and their world-famous hospitality.  It has helped to challenge and change the expectations of our children and their families. *quoted in our ofsted report, April 2018

Thanks so much for all your support with the Young Chamber Cadet programme this year, I think it has been the most worthwhile project we have ever taken part in, in terms of outcomes for the children in both the short and long term, as well as fostering some great connections locally for our school. It has been such a valuable opportunity for our children, and supporting our mantra ‘ learn today, aspire for life’ as the project has certainly reinforced our high aspirations and given the children sight of what can be achieved. Thank you Alex, for your hard work, enthusiasm and commitment to our school, and of course your warmth and professionalism, which draw the children to you. We are delighted we can continue with you next year.
